Falkirk BC
is affiliated to the British Cycling Federation under the auspices of
the Scottish Cyclists' Union and is part of the SCU's Mid Scotland
Section. The club welcomes cyclists of all ages, both male and female
who wish to get more involved in cycling socially or competitively.
Falkirk BC is primarily a road-based club although occasional
mountain-bike outings, especially in the winter months are also
organised. Cyclists who specialise in non-road cycling, be it in
mountain-biking, cyclo-cross, triathlon or time trailing, train
and ride with the club throughout the year. Falkirk BC membership
has seen active growth in recent years, with a current age range
covering teens to sixties, from all across the Central Scotland area.
The club's competitive accomplishments in both road racing and time
trials, as well as its involvement in encouraging cycling in and around
Central Scotland are well recognised.

(windows format)
During the cycling season (April-September) the club meets regularly
three times per week as follows:
Tuesday
19:00 @ Bellsdyke Rd, Larbert. (numbers permitting)
Thursday
19:00 @ Bellsdyke Rd, Larbert.
Hard, Fast Training session:
approx 3 x 8 mile circuit in an APR format. Typically 4 groups (fastest
setting off last), with 30 - 40 cyclists from Falkirk BC and
surrounding clubs. Recognised as one of the best training sessions in
Central Scotland.
Sunday
10:30 @ The Station Hotel (CLUB RUN & TRAINING RUN)
Regular Falkirk BC Sunday Club
run and Training run. The Club Run is steady paced with average distance of 50-70 miles.
The Training Run is used by those members wishing to do
specific training for racing. Both runs depart from the
Station Hotel @ 10.30. Most riders
return to The Station Hotel for food and chat afterwards but most come for the
banter. Newcomers or
members from visiting clubs are always welcome on the Sunday runs and
are encouraged to phone in advance. (ref contact page)
Winter
Season:
During the off-season
(October-March) the regular Sunday runs continue as above at a slightly
more leisurely pace; the Training run keeps a higher pace aimed at those who
want to build up for the forthcoming season. Both runs
will meet at The Station Hotel afterwards. The Tuesday
& Thursday training runs reconvene in the spring (see calendar
page) for the current season details and dates.

Insurance:
As per SCU guidelines all
regular Falkirk BC members and non members (other than newcomers)
should ensure that they have appropriate insurance to participate in
any organised training sessions or club runs. All cyclists should
ensure they have at least the minimum Silver SCU/BCF membership (or
equivalent) to be adequately covered for any competitive event. For
those who are passionate about their sport and spend many hours on
their bike it is worth noting that Gold cover actually insures the
rider for cycling at all times (e.g including cycling to/ from work)
and is recommended by the club.
